Attorney Teresa Bodoro was there and spoke about this matter. This license had been transferred a while back, but the ABCC just wanted to see, wanted us to hear it again so that because there wasn't enough time for the revocable trust to mature before we voted last time.
[00:08:55] Speaker A: Gotcha. Okay.
[00:08:56] Speaker B: So we voted again and that was noticed in the quincy sun on April 2nd. No one was there opposed. It went through five to zero.
And our next hearing will be on Tuesday, April 28th.
[00:09:14] Speaker A: Okay. Getting things done, Getting really busy here. Sure.
[00:09:17] Speaker B: Yes, yes.
[00:09:19] Speaker A: And then there's another date we want to talk about too, Nikki. Right. Regarding the city census.
[00:09:23] Speaker B: Yes.
So this election department is very busy finishing up our city census that we have returned thus far and doing state nomination papers.
But we did want to give a shout out to the residents and ask them again to go ahead and return their city census that we mailed out in late January, early February because we have deadline dates that we have to meet.
So come June 15, we want to be all done so that we're required by law to make anyone who hasn't responded but who is a registered voter to become inactive.
Out of our almost 70,000 voters that we have in our city, 17,339 have responded.
[00:10:32] Speaker A: That's all?
[00:10:33] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:10:34] Speaker A: Okay. That's pretty low.
[00:10:35] Speaker B: So yeah, The. Actually these are households.
[00:10:43] Speaker A: Oh, households. Okay.
[00:10:44] Speaker B: Yeah. So we have 32,877 that have not responded.
[00:10:50] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:10:51] Speaker B: So we're hoping, you know, to remind people that if you don't return it, you go on the inactive list. And then if you go on the inactive list and you go to vote in September, September 1st this year. That's right.
You will have to show your license, you'll have to show your ID and fill out an affirmation form.
Also, if you've lost it, you can certainly go onto the city of Quincy website and we have an electronic form on there. You can just fill it out.
It can populate right on online and submit that that way. Or you can certainly call our office and we'll get one out to you, another one if you need it. Okay.
The, the last thing we want to do, you know, is make people inactive.
Oh, excuse me.
We're going to make them active, inactive, six, one. So June 1st, June 1st okay. June 1st.
[00:12:02] Speaker A: So you know June 15th is your deadline, right?
[00:12:05] Speaker B: May 15th. Yeah. So, yes, it is.
But we want to make sure that.
We can avoid that as as much as possible.
Right now would be sending out 23,000 plus cards telling people that they're now inactive.
So in order to avoid that, just send back that census or do it through the city of Quincy website and we'll be happy to. To process that as soon as we get it.
[00:12:41] Speaker A: Okay.
And you know this is, as you said, per law, right? The National Voter Registration Act.
[00:12:48] Speaker B: So you have to. Yeah, it is. So unfortunately, you know, even if. Even if you sign a nomination paper, even if you vote every year, you still have to answer that annual census.
[00:13:04] Speaker A: Okay.
All right. Good reminder for folks. And what number should they call, Nikki?
[00:13:11] Speaker B: 617-376-11-441143.
[00:13:17] Speaker A: Okay, excellent. Very good. We will certainly remind folks about that.
[00:13:21] Speaker B: Thank you. And we gave you a flyer so you can put it up. Thanks, we appreciate that.
[00:13:26] Speaker A: Absolutely. And we'll catch up with you on April 29th, if that's okay.
[00:13:31] Speaker B: Sounds good. Thank you.
[00:13:32] Speaker A: Thanks so much, Nikki.
[00:13:33] Speaker B: Okay. Enjoy the weather.
[00:13:34] Speaker A: Yes, you too. Bye. Bye.
[00:13:36] Speaker B: Bye.
