And then October 26th through October 30th, 8:30 to 4: 30 here at City Hall.
[00:09:57] Speaker A: Okay, so the 30th is the last day of early voting.
[00:10:00] Speaker B: Yes. We'll have our designated spots out front working with T Pal to do 10 minute parking.
So know your ballot before you come because of those questions and we don't want anyone to get a ticket but we do designate you know, 10, 15 minutes for the, for the parking. I forget which one it is, but the parking will be out front and they'll also be designated parking over behind the Quincy T and the Monroe building.
[00:10:35] Speaker A: Okay, very good.
Okay. And I know mail in ballots have gone out, right?
[00:10:43] Speaker B: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Mail in ballots went out last weekend. We were, we got the ballots delivered on Friday afternoon.
[00:10:52] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:10:53] Speaker B: We stayed Saturday and Sunday and we did over 10,000 ballots and we got those out in the mail to the, to the mailing house on Monday morning. They hit mailboxes. Thursday. Friday we mailed out so far 11,003 ballots.
And we've, we have, we've accepted quite a few back. I think 4560 but still a lot more out there.
There's 35 today that we received to go out in the mail.
There were 230 yesterday with the, the weekend and the holiday and they're getting out daily we're doing it as we go, so there's no delays, you know, certainly not on our end where the Dropbox will is full over the weekend.
[00:11:58] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:11:58] Speaker B: So the Dropbox is really a, a good way to get your ballot back.
And that's out right out in front of City hall. And that's open all of the time right up until election day at 8:00pm Right, right.
[00:12:17] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:12:19] Speaker B: Last day to register y vote is October 24th here at City hall till 5pm so that's also the last.
That's also a day that we're going to have early voting here.
But early voting ends at 2:30.
[00:12:43] Speaker A: Right. Because it's a Saturday. Okay, Right. But the registration goes till 5 o'.
[00:12:47] Speaker B: Clock. That's right. Okay, Yep.
And online, you can register up until midnight on the 24th. Yeah.
[00:12:56] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, very good.
And then the 27th is the last day to request a mail in ballot. Is that right?
[00:13:05] Speaker B: That's the last day. Yes.
[00:13:06] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:13:07] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:13:09] Speaker A: All right.
[00:13:10] Speaker B: Absentee voting applicable noontime the day before the election.
[00:13:14] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Right at City hall.
[00:13:16] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:13:17] Speaker A: Okay.
So there's many, many ways to vote.
[00:13:21] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
You know, if anyone has any questions at all, please don't hesitate to call us. 617-376-1144-1143.
We have boxes of the red booklet available, so if anybody needs one, we'll be happy to mail it out to you. We have it in English, Chinese and Vietnamese if anyone, you know, needs one. If there's one missing, we have plenty here. You can come up and get one in person.
My, my biggest suggestion would be to know before you go, those questions are tricky and they're cumbersome.
But the ballots, Ballots.
There's three ballots for every person, so we're lucky. We did upgrade our voting equipment last year.
They're twice as fast as before, so we're not anticipating lines at the polls. However, we do need to pack our patients because, you know, one has to drop before you put the other one in or it'll just jam up. You can't put them all in together. You need to put one in at a time and it does process quickly.
However, you know, it is a couple of seconds, I should say, to get the three of them through.
[00:15:05] Speaker A: All right. Yeah, we kind of. We overshadow the actual election day. November 3rd. Right. 7:00am To 8:00pm Yeah, I know.
[00:15:13] Speaker B: We didn't even talk about that, did we?
There's so much going on before that. Right.
You know, election day, all 31 precincts will be open.
We're working with the Quincy Public Schools. We're working with the churches and the halls that we still have in Quincy for voters.
If you voted in the primary, you know that at the Elks, you're voting back up in the Terrell Room and you will be there again.
They're accommodating us there and everything else. The Nickerson Post, of course, is the temporary location.
We will get back there in 2027 to the Squantum School. But for now, it is the Nickerson Post. We will make sure that that's accessible for election day. I know they're doing some work up there, but we're working with public buildings and DPW and we hope that everybody has a good election day.
Let's hope for good weather.
And if you're around taking up the festivities in the city, we're going to be here for early voting. And come on in.
We have a full staff here as well. I know people love it.
It's another way to get your vote done so you don't have to wait for election Day if you don't want to.
[00:16:52] Speaker A: Right? Yeah. So many different ways now. Exactly.
Any preliminary predictions, Nikki, for turnout this year?
[00:17:00] Speaker B: I think we're looking between 50 and 52%.
Yeah. So it's a busy ballot. It's a busy ballot. So we're hoping that people, you know, pack their patients, but know before you go, and I think we'll have a seamless day.
[00:17:20] Speaker A: Excellent. All right. Appreciate the update, as always. And we'll catch up again before. Before the election, certainly.
[00:17:26] Speaker B: Of course.
