[00:00:00] Foreign. [00:00:16] I'm Joe Catalano with an AM Quincy news update for Tuesday, August 18th. [00:00:22] A second crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Quincy is under investigation. [00:00:28] Police say it happened on Washington street just before the Four River Bridge Rotary on Sunday, shortly after noontime in Quincy Point. The operator of the motorcycle suffered very serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The motor vehicle operator suffered minor injuries. The crash is still under investigation. Last Saturday afternoon, a crash between a motorcycle and a car on East Quantum street in North Quincy also left that motorcycle operator with serious injuries. That crash is also under investigation by the Quincy Police Crash Reconstruction Team. [00:01:07] Police in Cohasset are investigating the death of a man found unresponsive on a hiking trail. Officers and fire crews responded to Whitney woods after receiving a 911 call about 10:30 yesterday morning. The caller reported finding the person on a remote trail in the park. Emergency responders hiked about one and a half miles over rugged terrain to find an injured man in his early 70s. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police used two off road vehicles to bring personnel and equipment and officers later assisted personnel from the Office of the Chief Medical examiner of Massachusetts to remove the man from the woods. [00:01:51] Authorities closed off part of the woods for several hours as the scene was processed. Police said that the man's death is not believed to be suspicious and that there is no danger to the public, but the case remains under investigation. The man's name is being withheld until his family is notified. [00:02:11] Bradley Rain faced a judge at Brockton Superior Court yesterday nearly four years after prosecutors say he drove through an Apple store in Hingham that ultimately killed a 65 year old man and injured several others. The court hearing comes as Rain awaits trial on charges that include second degree murder. Prosecutors say Rain was arrested by Hingham police on Sunday for failing an alcohol test, which is one of the conditions listed in his probational release. [00:02:47] Other conditions include no driving and giving up his passport. The commonwealth filed a motion to revoke his bail, which was granted by a judge yesterday. Rain's pre trial probation was revoked and he is to remain in custody for up to 90 days. His defense pushed back against the Commonwealth at Brockton Superior Court. It is not the first time prosecutors say this has happened. In September of 2023, a judge revoked Rain's bail for 60 days after authorities say they lost contact with his GPS monitor. Months after that, Rain was back in custody after prosecutors say the device died again and they couldn't reach him. Rain was released once again while the case moved forward. [00:03:36] All stems back to 2022 when prosecutors say Rain drove through an Apple store at the Derby street shops in Hingham. A 65 year old man was killed and dozens were hurt. Rain has pleaded not guilty to a long list of charges that include second degree murder and motor vehicle homicide. His trial has been delayed several times. [00:03:59] Rain is due back in court in October. [00:04:03] Lindsay Clancy's defense began presenting its case yesterday with witnesses including her mother and sister. The Duxbury mother is accused of murdering her three children in 2023. Lindsay Clancy's mother, Paula Musgrove, fought through tears as she told the jury she loved her grandchildren with all her heart and she described her daughter as a loving mother who would do anything for her children. [00:04:30] Musgrove said she immediately traveled to Duxbury where she stayed for about a week. She said her daughter's condition did not improve and as the holidays approached By January of 2023, Musgrove said her daughter lost a lot of weight and was becoming paranoid. Allison Ozga, Lindsay Clancy's sister, testified that the defendant confided in her that she was struggling with mental health issues in December of 2022 and said she was in a, quote, really tough spot. Clancy's on trial for the murder in 2023, the strangulation deaths of her children. She she has pleaded not guilty. The case hinges on Clancy's mental health. Her defense acknowledges that she killed the children but plans to argue she was not criminally responsible because she was in the throes of postpartum psychosis. Jurors are expected to hear from mental health experts who will testify about psychosis. [00:05:29] A 5,700 square foot penthouse in a property at the base of Beacon Hill has sold for $18 million among the highest priced sales in that neighborhood this year. The condo at 46 Beacon street across from the Boston Common is in a building known as the Jordan Mansion, which the Boston Preservation alliance calls a grand mansion disguised as a Beacon Hill row house. It was built for eben Dyer Jordan Jr. The owner of the long ago Jordan Marsh Department Store Co owned by his father. [00:06:09] The historic United First Parish Church in Quincy center has a new music director. [00:06:15] Sean Glennon, the director of planning and community development for the Quincy Planning Department, is now the part time music director at the Church of Presidents. In a statement, Glennon said he is humbled and honored to accept the position at the church that is home to the tombs of Presidents John and John Quincy Adams and their wives and also where the Reverend John Hancock, the father of the patriot John Hancock, served as minister. Glennon is leaving his post as music director at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Hanover, where he was music director and choir master for 15 years, and says this new role is a dream come true. Glennon is also a member of the Quincy Lions Club, a troop leader for Cub Scout PAC 6 and a volunteer for the Quincy Band Boosters. Glennon plays the piano and organ. Glennon begins his new role in mid September and begins leading the music at the church on October 4th. [00:07:15] Jack of Business News this morning and stocks retreated.
